The “Academy of ancient music” Ensemble of Soloists

Russia

The “Academy of Ancient Music” Ensemble of Soloists was founded in 1982 by Tatiana Grindenko, an outstanding violinist, disciple of Yuri Yankelevich, winner of the International Competition of Young Musicians in Sofia and the Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition in Poland, laureate of the 4th International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow.
The “Academy of Ancient Music” has been one of the greatest proponents of the ancient music per-formance movement in Soviet Russia and a part of the worldwide known phenomenon of ‘historically approved’ authentic interpretation. With the course of time the Academy discovered another way of musical concert ‘vision’: the newest works by contemporary composers were frequently performed in a sort of a dialogue with the early music masterpieces, happily balancing between tradition and experiment, marrying baroque and avant-garde, turning to the forgotten old and the unknown new.
Tatiana Grindenko and the soloists of the “Academy of Ancient Music” ensemble preserve their per-sonal special artistic vision and determined position in music interpretation and comprehension, inviting the audience to accept the challenge – to start a dialogue both with the performer, and the composer.
